About these parts

The FJ Cruiser's factory steering rack becomes the limiting component once the truck is running 35s, lockers and real trail miles. Play develops, and the stock rack was never specified for those loads — the same complaint owners of the platform-mate 4th Gen 4Runner and Lexus GX470 report.

The Toyo-Steering billet Tundra conversion rack kit replaces it with heavier Tundra-spec internals inside a fully CNC-machined billet housing. The redesign narrows rack width for full stroke, corrects the bore axis so the tie rods clear coilovers, and shifts the pinion closer to center to eliminate frame interference — no frame notching required. The OEM intermediate shaft is reused.

Two versions, split at 2010. The 2007–2009 FJ and the 2010-and-newer FJ use different kits. Check your model year before ordering.

One fitment note worth reading first: Tundra outer tie rods use a different taper than the stock FJ spindle, so the spindle needs to be reamed to a 1:10 taper. Toyo-Steering will service your spindles or sell you reamed ones.

For off-road use only — installing it voids factory warranty coverage on steering components.
